Welcome to your Mount Rainier escape. Named after our pup, Ranger our beautiful A-Frame cabin surrounded by 10 acres of new and old growth forest is just 8 minutes (4.8 miles) from the entrance of Mount Rainier National Park. Basecamp here with 3 private bedrooms, 2 private balconies, 2 large decks and a relaxing hot tub. The perfect place for friends and family alike to call home after your adventures in and around the park. We are one of the few cabins in Ashford that are not in a development!
Good to know
3 private bedrooms each include a queen-size bed. Full sized kitchen has all of the basic cooking essentials needed for a family-sized dinner after a long day in the mountains. Open floor-plan provides the perfect space to enjoy each other's company. Cozy up by the wood-burning stove and cuddle up on the large couch and watch Netflix while you unwind. Laundry units included if you have an extended stay or just need to do a quick load of laundry after a long day in the park. Relax, watch the stars and sooth those sore muscles in the private hot tub. Located in the backyard just off the deck and surrounded by nature. Our home is located on 10 acres and NOT in a development. This is very rare for Ashford as most homes are very close to their neighbors and in cabin communities/developments. We have neighbors, but they are acres away and through the trees! Heating: We primarily rely on our wood-burning stove to heat our home. We will provide firewood, kindling and fire starters for your stay. We do have an in-wall electric heater that does a pretty good job of keeping the place warm, but in the deep winter you'll want to use the wood-burning stove. Instructions are included in the manual.
Other Details to Note
Snow: In the winter, you may encounter snow so please be prepared with AWD and/or tire chains. Our driveway is flat, though can be icy. We try and keep it plowed as often as we can, but there may be times that you'll need to drive in snow and ice (weather dependent). Power Outages: Every once in a while the power goes out in Ashford during a heavy winter storm. Of course our wood burning stove will keep you warm, but we do also provide bottled water, a propane stove (with propane) and lanterns/flashlights just in case this happens. Note that the hot tub, well water, electric heat and WIFI all require electricity :) Cell phone service: Verizon seems to be pretty consistent with service but we have not tested the other carriers. Our WIFI is quick but do note that you are in the “wilderness” and often times WIFI cuts in and out. Events: Our home is not suitable for events. All guests should be listed on your reservation, please let us know if you are expecting anyone. Pets: pets are not allowed at the cabin. Thank you for understanding.

Neighborhood
Ashford is a thriving mountain community with remarkable access to Mount Rainier National Park. Stop in at Whitaker's "Basecamp" and shop new/used outdoor gear (or rent snowshoes!). Our home is also located minutes from the famous Copper Creek Inn which serves some of the best blackberry pie in Washington (along with a full breakfast, lunch, dinner and to-go menu.) Minutes from hundreds of trailheads and acres away from our neighbors, you'll love the secluded yet close-to-town feel of our cabin.
Guest Access
You'll have access to the entire house and 10 acre property (though please do stay within our property boundary). The property includes a hot tub, fire pit (firewood not provided), and plenty of "trails" to explore nature.

The roads in Ashford and to the cabin are open year-round and in great shape. We're minutes from town where you'll find a small grocery store, gas station and a few small restaurants.
