Good to know

Ranger's Trailhead is the perfect basecamp for your mountain adventures. Just 11 minutes (7.8 miles) from the entrance of Mount Rainier National Park. But if you don’t feel like driving, just head out the backdoor. The cabin backs up to thousands of acres of pristine DNR forestland—known locally as the Elbe Hills—offering miles of trails and forest roads to explore, with a few starting right from the backyard. Our cozy retreat features a private loft with a queen bed plus a detached bedroom suite—also with a queen bed—just steps from the back door, ideal for couples or small groups wanting space and privacy. The open-concept living area includes a fully equipped kitchen stocked with essential cookware, perfect for preparing a homemade meal after a day on the trails. Gather around the wood-burning stove, stream your favorite shows from the sectional sofa, or enjoy a relaxing soak in the private hot tub while surrounded by nature. Birdsongs, fresh mountain air, and total peace await in the spacious backyard with a large patio—perfect for morning coffee or stargazing at night. Planning a longer stay? Take advantage of the in-unit washer and dryer—great for extended visits or a quick load after a hike. In winter, the nearby Mount Tahoma Trails are groomed for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, making this a perfect year-round destination for outdoor lovers. What makes Ranger’s Trailhead truly special is its setting: it’s one of the few Ashford cabins not located in a development. That means privacy, peace, and that "away-from-it-all" feeling. Whether you’re here to hike, snowshoe, or simply unwind, Ranger’s Trailhead offers the perfect mix of rustic charm, modern comfort, and unbeatable access to nature.

Other Details to Note

Stairs: the stairs to the loft bedroom are steep. Slightly better than a ladder, not quite like a typical staircase. The detached bedroom suite, however is only 3 “normal” steps to the front door. Snow: In the winter, you may encounter snow so please be prepared with AWD and/or tire chains. Our driveway is short, though can be icy. We try and keep it plowed as often as we can, but there may be times that you'll need to drive in snow and ice (weather dependent). Power Outages: Every once in a while the power goes out in Ashford during a heavy winter storm. Of course our wood burning stove will keep you warm, but we do also provide a propane stove (with propane) and lanterns/flashlights just in case this happens. Note that the hot tub, electric heat and WIFI all require electricity :) Cell phone service: Verizon is fairly on/off with service but we have not tested the other carriers. Our Starlink WIFI is fast and is fairly reliable. Events: Our home is not suitable for events. All guests should be listed on your reservation, please let us know if you are expecting anyone.

Grant’s place easily takes the top spot for the best Airbnb we’ve ever stayed in! We felt right at home in this cabin surrounded by a beautiful garden and all the sights and sounds of nature. We loved getting up early to drink coffee and listen to the forest wake up. Grant is very friendly and responds promptly. I couldn’t recommend this place enough. We’re already thinking about when we can make it back!

Genuinely the best Airbnb I’ve ever stayed in! I loved your brand, story, and the attention to detail throughout the space. Everything was spotless and smelled amazing the moment we walked in. The aesthetics were beautiful, and I adored the vintage touches. The hot tub was super clean and easy to use, and the bottle of wine was such a thoughtful touch, it made our stay feel even more special. I also loved the little things like the stocked spices and sugar for the hummingbird feeders. It was very private and felt like a hidden fairy garden. We had everything we needed and more. Highly recommend 💙💙💙

We had an absolutely amazing stay at this cabin! From the moment we arrived, we felt completely at peace. The cabin is cozy, clean, and so cute! Nestled in the trees just outside Mount Rainier National Park, the location couldn’t be better for hiking, exploring, or simply enjoying nature. The hosts were incredibly responsive and made check-in super easy. They had everything stocked — from coffee and kitchen essentials to extra blankets and games. The hot tub was definitely a highlight after long days of hiking, and the firepit added the perfect touch of warmth and charm in the evenings. Whether you’re looking for adventure or just want to unplug and unwind, this place is the perfect escape. I’m already dreaming about coming back!
